Hotel and Villas Nayaá
2024 - La Punta, Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca

Nayaá is a hotel with 8 rooms and 2 rental villas. The project is located in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, 200 meters from the beach in a neighborhood that blends international tourism with local homes. To avoid an overly strong presence in the residential area, the program is divided into four volumes that follow the topography and blend into the landscape: a set of staggered volume, generating platforms with different heights in its interior.
The main façade is constructed with a latticework of prefabricated cement pieces, allowing views from the inside and letting in the ocean breeze. In contrast, the rear façade is largely open to offer views from large terraces and balconies. Nayaá is the name of the hotel, which means "fresh and green" in Zapotec, referring to the color of its walls that are coated with a artisanal stucco made from cactus slime (“baba de nopal”). The doors, windows, pergolas, and woodwork are made of a local yellow wood called "macuil." The geometric patterns on the lattices, railings, and pergolas filter sunlight and give the complex a handcrafted feel.
