House of Music
2014 - Budapest, Hungary

Due to its central position in the park, the House of Music is conceived as if it was a typical bandstand or music pavilion. The three different layers of columns wrapping the building, generate a beautiful facade with lots of depth and openness, making the building blend in with the surrounding landscape of tall trees. The building is a compelling composition of rhythmic lines and curved openings in different layers, heights and depths: a follie of frozen music in the center of the park. As if it were the repetitive lines of score paper and the soft arches of repeated legatos, the House of Hungarian Music displays a gentle arrangement of rhythm and variations that is simultaneously classical and contemporary.
